Ball State's Jauwan Scaife was named to the Mid-American Conference's All-Freshman team. Teammate Jarrod Jones received honorable mention for the All-MAC team. University of Indianapolis junior guard Darius Adams was named to the Division II All-Region team in a vote of sports information directors.

The Indianapolis Star earned a pair of section awards in the 2009 Associated Press Sports Editors newspaper competition. For the second year in a row, The Star was named one of the Top 10 daily sports sections in the 100,000-250,000 circulation category. Also, a section on Tony Dungy 's departure from the Indianapolis Colts was selected as one of the Top 20 special sections.

Wednesday the Mid-American Conference announced the All-MAC First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention selections for the 2009-10 season. The teams were voted on by the league's head coaches. The league's All-Freshman team was also announced today.

Ball State sophomore forward Jarrod Jones ( Michigan City, Ind./Michigan City) has been named Honorable Mention All-Mid-American Conference and freshman guard Jauwan Scaife (Muncie, Ind./Muncie) has been named to the MAC All-Freshmen Team, the league office announced Wednesday. The All-MAC teams were voted on by the league's 12 head coaches. Jones, an Honorable Mention All-MAC selection last season, lead the Cardinals in scoring at 12.2 points per game and rebounding at 7.4 boards per contest.

Western Michigan's David Kool headlined the All-MAC First Team after being selected as this year's MAC Player of the Year. Joining Kool on the first team is Akron's Jimmy Conyers who was named MAC Defensive Player of the Year this season. Buffalo's Rodney Pierce, Miami's Kenny Hayes and Kent State's Chris Singletary rounded out this year's First Team members. The All-MAC Second Team features four players from the MAC West Division.

Max Boudreau scored 18 points off the bench to lead the fifth-seeded Buffalo Bulls to a 72-54 victory over the 12th-seeded Toledo Rockets in the first round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament. Calvin Betts netted 13 points for Buffalo (18-11), which moves on to battle fourth-seeded Miami-Ohio in the quarterfinals. The Bulls also got 12 points from Sean Smiley.

Ball State enters the 2010 Mid-American Conference Tournament as the eight seed and will host ninth-seeded Ohio Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Worthen Arena. The winner of Sunday's game will advance to the MAC Tournament Quarterfinals in Cleveland, Ohio and will face No. 1 seed Kent State Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Quicken Loans Arena. Ball State ended the regular season with three straight losses after posting three straight victories.
